What is Chip's Challenge?

The Microsoft CC port

Chip's Challenge is a tile-based computer game created by Epyx in 1989. It involves navigating the title character, Chip, through numerous levels filled with various obstacles and tools. It owes much of its popularity to its ports, especially one made by Microsoft in 1992 for the Windows platform.

The CCLP2 information file

The levelset originally distributed with the game included 148 levels. The Microsoft version of the game added a level and slightly modified a number of levels, as well as changing some of the mechanics of the game itself.

The Chip's Challenge community released an unofficial sequel to the original levels which is only compatible with the Microsoft version of the game called Chip's Challenge Level Pack 2 (CCLP2) in 2002. Another unofficial sequel, CCLP3, is currently in development.

Milestone and donations

Chip's Portal has reached a major milestone of 50 members. Thank you to all current members for joining and hopefully there will be many more members in the future. Also, a Donate button has been added to Chip's Portal through which you can donate any amount you specify. Please give generously as the hosting does cost money.

A Contributions section has been added to the Members page. This allows you to see all of the different types of contributions on a single page, as well as compare the activity levels of different members.

Massive website update (April Fool's)

Chip's Portal has been massively updated today and now includes new features such as automatic level solvability verification, an online version of the game, and automatic ruleset compatibility testing. Here is the link to the new version of the website: April Fool's!

Website updated

Chip's Portal has been updated today. The website has had more inconsistencies removed as well as some minor features added.

Website upgraded

Chip's Portal has been massively upgraded today. Every page has been rewritten and numerous bugs and inconsistencies removed. Some minor features have also been added.
